Forced To The Other Side AU

Claudia's been missing for several months, and Gabriel has turned everywhere he could think of upside-down to find her. He searched all of Earth aside from those few places warded against angels, he searched all of Hell--eliminating a ton of demons in the process--and even searched Heaven. All to no avail. It was like she no longer existed.

Then came a video with no return address. A porn video. One that involved demons, which made it... rather less than entertaining than the one he's done, given his own didn't involve anyone dying. One of those demons being an apparently possessed Claudia made it clear where the inspiration came from. The demon must have dug around in her head.

A couple of days of working on figuring out the location of the video later, he's figured out where to go. After dropping off the ferret and dog at the bed and breakfast due to not knowing how long he would be gone, he heads over there, appearing with an almost silent whisper of wings. He explores the building cautiously, keeping his power on a leash to avoid betraying his presence any more than absolutely needed.

"So sorry to wreck your plans," Gabriel says sarcastically. "How will you ever survive?"

Even as he talks, his hands go up to yank her end of the leash out of her hands so he could run for it. After all, she only said he couldn't harm her, not that he couldn't do anything else.

Claudia lets him have his little game, because it wasn't the leash that gave her the power, exactly. He could try to run, but she had only to give an order and the magic would do the rest.

"Gabriel, you will not leave this building without me, nor will you be able to transport either of us to any location not approved of verbally." Perhaps he could find a way around it, but right now she had other problems. "And I would greatly appreciate an end to this shower. It's not doing my complexion any wonders."

She gave a slight chuckle. "Hell, I'll even offer you some of those answers you wanted. Like where I was."

"What, you don't think sunburned drowned rat is a good look for you?" he retorts, stepping back away from her. He's not really feeling the motivation to turn off the holy water. It's not like she's given him a direct order to turn it off.

He has to admit to some curiosity on if the collar would add any new conditions she has for him if he's out of hearing range.

"I think my lord is angry enough with you at the moment," Claudia pointed out, mildly. "He is very creative when it comes to acting on that anger."

She can't help a shudder at the thought, half in anticipation and half in dread at what the end of this day will bring. It was almost strange to remember that there had once been days when she had wanted to escape the pain rather than feel blessed by those attentions so lavished upon her. "Unless you would rather I ask for the meeting to begin here."

"Tell him I said he could sit on a cactus and rotate," he snaps. Gabriel is fairly certain Lucifer won't kill him. A little difficult for him to use Claudia to hurt him if he's not around to see her.

He takes another step back away from her, aware she wasn't the only one who looks like a drowned rat.

Claudia found his attempt to run almost amusing. As was his language. "You always did have a certain way with words," she said. "But it's time for you to stop running and face the music, so to speak. Stand where you are until I release you."

She knew it would anger him to be so controlled, for all that it was such a minor thing. They were both bound by Lucifer's will, but he had marked her, which was more than Gabriel had ever offered. If Gabriel was permitted to live, perhaps he would come to see her side of things, how she had been freed from doubt, from worry, from always having to consider if her actions were 'right.'

"Fuck you," he snaps, even as he stops moving, lashing out with his power at the lights, making the bulbs explode. Petty, sure, but she's limiting the amount of things he can do.

"Is that an invitation?" Claudia asked, stalking towards him like a predatory beast. "You used to enjoy that, as I recall. Fucking me. No need to be quite so gentle, now."

She could cut off access to displays like that, but there was no point to completely denying him some outlet yet. Lucifer wouldn't approve of her hedging him in too tightly. The thought of her master reminded her to check in, with a brief synopsis of events and a request to know if there should be any modifications. Getting Gabriel to the chosen place seemed hardly likely without attempting to coerce him, and that wasn't in her abilities or those of the collar.

He scowls at her, folding his arms over over his chest. "Last I checked, you weren't a demon when I've slept with you."

Gabriel listens in on the conversation. Considering it was about him, it seemed best to do. Cue him over-hearing--if barely--Lucifer telling her he was sending someone to bring the both of them in and giving permission to physically restrain Gabriel more if needed, given he was well aware the collar wasn't the only thing Claudia had with her to counter his brother.

"I'm his now," Claudia pointed out. "In ways you never even thought to offer."

She turns her back on him, and even through the effects of holy water, it's clear to see through the almost transparent white of her shirt that the anti-possession tattoo is still there, but on her other shoulder is a new Mark. A part of her wanted him to see it, see what he'd failed to take and lost.

"Follow me," she ordered, then added, more conversationally. "If you behave, I won't have to add to the list of things you won't be able to do without permission. "

"I'm so thrilled," he says flatly as he starts following her, continuing to explode light bulbs along the way to leave them in darkness.

Along with trying to decide if ripping live electrical wires out of the fixtures and letting them drop in the water was something the binding on him would let him do. After all, it's not directly hurting her.

"Gabriel, cease using your powers without specific direction. At this time, the only thing you can do is to stop the sprinklers," she stated, her tone edging into a dangerous one. It was a shame he had to choose to act for that to happen. And as long as he insisted on that silly prejudice of his, he wouldn't see much in the way of reason.

So she led him to the halls to her point of entry, waiting for the promised aid to come. It would be rather nice to get somewhere she could dry off.

Gabriel grinds his teeth as he finds himself unable to do anything but the one thing she'll let him. Which obviously, he's not going to do if he doesn't have to. "What, can't see in the dark?"

Claudia turned around, grabbing the leash and using it to pull Gabriel close to her. This close, he could clearly see how quickly her body healed the damage caused by the still sputtering sprinklers. "You want me to shut you up, too?"

He was hers, at least for now. A tiny piece of her wanted to show him that, show him how much power she could have, but instead, she kissed his cheek, then patted it. "Does it bother you to think about what you've lost, Gabriel? To know you were helpless to find me? I learned so many things from your brother, more than you ever would share."

Gabriel takes a step back from her. "You were better as a human. The things he did to and taught you aren't things that are great for your chances of getting Upstairs."

Rather than using the magic, she tightens her grip on the leash, wrapping it around her wrist to keep him from pulling any further away. "Upstairs? The place you did everything to get away from? I don't really see that as such a loss."

Nor, really, was it a loss when the sprinklers finally shut off, a few moments before the door opened with a greasy little demon cowering behind it like a shield. She gave a slight wave of dismissal, not wanting to spend any more time on it than necessary. "That'll do, Donkey."

Relief bloomed across the demon's face as he backed away, bowing repeatedly. Sure, the minion's name wasn't actually Donkey, but it was something to call him. She'd been just assigning names to them as she thought one needed to be distinguished, so to speak. A few of them had even seemed flattered by the so-called honor. The smarter demons had started betting pools on how long a given mook would last under that distinction. Attracting notice was pretty much a death sentence, and she planned to keep it that way.

"Come, Gabriel. We have a date with the devil."

"I left because of my brothers fighting and you know it?" he retorts before the water finally shuts off, followed by the door opening.

Gabriel grits his teeth as he moves forwards. He would really rather not be doing this. But right now, he doesn't really have much choice but to play along.

"And you would have killed at least one of them given half a chance. Something I think he hasn't forgiven you for, but you can always try apologizing. It won't be long."

She considered whether it was better to go by mostly mundane methods, or whether she should try to get Gabriel to fly them. Well, Donkey had brought a reasonable car, so she figured that would work for getting to the nearest portal she could activate without help. She might even feel a bit tempted to make it big enough to drive through.

"Considering that I'm the one who got stabbed, somehow, I'm not feeling a whole lot of sympathy for the devil." Yes, he's just made a Rolling Stones reference. May as well be a smartass, since he has the chance.

"Yes, you just made sure he got shoved back in the Cage, with company," Claudia commented. "Get in the car. We're going on a little trip."

And guess what the radio is playing, followed by other suitable themed pieces. But it was easier to drag him through one of the passageways she had readied than let Gabe find out some of the weak points in her control.

"He survived the experience, didn't he?" Gabriel retorts before getting in the car and folding his arms across his chest like a sulky teenager.

...And he would so burn out the radio if his powers weren't leashed.

"So did you," Claudia said, mildly. She wonders if he realizes that he's more pouty toddler who got told it's bedtime than sulky teenager, but pointing that out would be even more petty than the music mix.

So instead she decides it's worth the extra power, not to mention the amusement of leaving Donkey's ride in Hell, to do the large portal, and she keeps driving in silence.

Twenty minutes or so would do it, she figured, even if she drove like a little old lady. That was also tempting. Gabriel would probably expect her to drive like a demon, but, honestly, flashy maneuvers like that were a little boring.

Know what's also boring? Old lady driving. He's quiet for a few minutes before talking again. "I didn't realize turning into a demon would make you drive like an old person. Need your reflexes checked, Grandma?"

Time to see if he could get under her skin.

"It's funny you're the one acting a like two-year-old who got told they were out of ice cream, considering your age."

Nope, not real rise out of her. She wondered for a moment exactly what it was that had once made him so thrilling to be around. Lucifer, at least, was never boring or predictable.

What, Gabriel being awesome in bed doesn't do it for her anymore? Along with being willing to take her to whatever part of the world she wanted to for little mini-vacations or day-trips.

Gabriel's lips press together as he looks out the window. Apparently, she feels like being a pain in the ass.
