It's a reasonably warm and sunny day and Gabriel is sitting on a park bench, leaning back against it with his arms folded over his chest and legs stretched out in front of him, a backpack sitting on the ground by the bench. He's watching the kids playing in the playground area when he gets distracted by Castiel's arrival. He turns his head to look at him before squinting. Okay, there's sure something going on. "Hey. This is a bit of a time hop for you, isn't it?"

And maybe a bit more than that, he isn't entirely sure. "You seem to be about a century off from when you're supposed to be."

Castiel takes a look around. This isn't where he intended to be, or even when. Which means - what a shock - something has gone horribly wrong. What's actually shocking, though, is the first person he hears - the first person he sees - is Gabriel. Gabriel who is supposed to be dead, at the hands of Lucifer. His head tilts and his brow knits in his confusion.

"Gabriel. You're alive."

Gabriel looks at his little brother before sighing. "Right then. Different timeline, since by the feel of you, you should know I'm still alive and kicking. Yes, I'm fine. What brings you here?"

"This was not intentional." He watches the kids playing for a moment before turning his attention back to Gabriel. "What are you doing here?"

[lotsoflaughs]

"Didn't take a close look at them, did you?" Gabriel nods in the direction of a red-headed boy playing with the others. "Anything about him feel familiar? Think back to when Metatron played you for a sucker."

"Not particularly, no." Castiel took no special immediate interest in the kids, but now that Gabriel's pointed out the little boy, he's paying more attention. His eyebrows lift as he looks back to the other.

"You have a son?"

[lotsoflaughs]

"And if you try to kill this one of my kids, you'll be dead before you get the chance," Gabriel says in a deceptively mild tone, power gathering. "Along with freaking him out about the you that actually belongs to this time."

"I have no intention of harming anyone. If it hadn't been for Metatron..." Castiel frowns, shaking his head. "What about the me that belongs to this time?"

[lotsoflaughs]

"He behaves himself around my kid," Gabriel says, letting his power fade for the most part. "When he's down here instead of Upstairs, anyway."

Castiel glances around, thinking about under what circumstances he'd ever find himself welcome back in Heaven. Obviously, things have changed a lot. "What's happening up there?"

[lotsoflaughs]

"Winchesters." Gabriel takes pity on Castiel after a moment and elaborates. "They've been dead for awhile, so if the you of this time wants to spend time with them, Upstairs he goes. Dean got killed for good on a hunt in his fifties and Sam managed to outlast him by about fifteen-twenty years. He retired from hunting to focus on rebuilding the Men of Letters."

"Of course. That makes sense." It's no surprise, really. Castiel's known for quite some time that eventually their luck would run out, and none of them would be able to continue to cheat Death forever. At least his relationship with Heaven is strong enough to allow visits.

"Is this how you generally spend your days now? Parenting your child?" He has his doubts that life would ever be that simple, but he supposes it's possible.

Not to mention that if they were somehow still alive, they'd be well over a hundred. And Gabriel may have threatened and intimidated the other angels into behaving while Castiel was in Heaven.

At the comment on his actually being a parent this time around, he snorts. "I can just see Claudia's reaction to being told that as the mother, looking after him was solely her job. Threatening to shoot me with rock salt would more than likely happen. Along with comments about what century this is."

I am officially laid off for the holidays so I'll be around a lot more for a couple weeks

"And you're enjoying it, I trust? Being able to spend time with your son?" It's probably for the best, anyway, to have an archangel looking over the boy's shoulder. Just in case someone else gets wind that there's a nephilim in existence and should be eliminated.

Blarg to job loss, yay for time to RP?

Anyone who tries to kill this one would die. Quickly. "Yeah. Didn't get much time with Jane since paying too much attention to her could have resulted in what happened anyway. Joshua here, actually gets me around plenty."

Time for a change of subject to find out what Castiel needs filling in on. "Ever hear of Warehouse 13?"

Pretty much!

"I'm sure he appreciates that as well." Castiel can see Gabriel being a pretty good father, really.

The subject change has him tilting his head. "Warehouse 13? No, I haven't heard of it."

[lotsoflaughs]

"Right, then. They basically track down stuff that causes problems. Preferably before it ruins the world's day. Kinda like hunters, but they go after objects instead. Some of 'em are harmless enough like Marilyn Monroe's hairbrush making whoever uses it platinum blonde for awhile, but there's nastier stuff they've got buttoned up. Like the movie prop from Raiders of the Lost Ark started acting like the real thing." He's just gonna shut up for a moment to give Castiel time to absorb that.

Castiel mulls that over. A group of people tracking down potentially dangerous, magical, cursed and possibly Heavenly objects; it's no surprise that Gabriel's found himself involved with them, somehow. "Hmm. I see. What's your involvement in this? And what happens to these objects once they're tracked down?" With a name like Warehouse 13, he could hazard a guess, though, honestly.

"Shacking up with the Caretaker since before she was Caretaker and was an agent," Gabriel deadpans. "The stuff gets locked up where it can't cause problems. Mostly. Houdini's wallet likes to make a break for it every so often."

[beees]

"Of course." Castiel nods. No surprise there, really. "Are these items being stored to keep them safe, or for future use?"

[lotsoflaughs]

"More to keep the world safe from them. Although some do get used if it's more useful to have them available to help with things. Like P. L. Traver's bag." Not that Gabriel really expects Castiel to know who she was. "Okay, the cookie jar that has a never-ending supply of cookies isn't actually useful, but it is fun."

That may be where he can actually get to it, rather than in a heavily warded building.

Castiel has no idea who P. L. Travers is. But. A cookie jar that never runs out of cookies? In Gabriel's hands? "You have access to a cookie jar with a never-ending supply of cookies, and it's still at the warehouse?"

[lotsoflaughs]

"No, it's at the house. The Warehouse is heavily warded. Nothing supernatural can get in. Just as well, really; considering that stuff sometimes reacts badly when a couple of humans get pissed off in the wrong aisle. An enraged archangel? Place would go nuclear."

[beees]

Castiel nods. "Perhaps it is for the best that the warehouse is warded, then." He smiles a little, "It also removes any temptation that may strike for you to take any other dessert producing objects home."

[lotsoflaughs]

"Hey, a century ago, I would have been saving a couple of Claudia's coworkers from themselves," he objects. "Benefiting myself in the process, obviously. We keep the jar where the kiddo can't reach it, for the record."

"Are you sure you would have helped them, or would you have thought they were getting precisely what they deserved?" Castiel raises his eyebrows. "It's probably a wise idea to keep the cookie jar out of reach. Has the boy inherited your sweet tooth?"
