It doesn't particularly help that back then, archangels were somewhat tactless with their appearances, hence why you all had to preface everything you said with "fear not". That's the funny thing about belief, my friend. Someone can claim it all they wish, but when they are presented with real proof, it seems to throw them into an existential crisis. Humans are very paradoxical beings.
