Remember when I said I spent the last two thousand years pretending *not* to be an angel? Don't you think that might let the cat out of the bag a little early?

It might. And if you're hiding from the world now, no less than that. But I wonder, if your brothers are gone, why you are still hiding.

My older brothers are either locked up somewhere around the bottom of Hell or dead, yeah, but that still leaves thousands of younger siblings wanting someone to tell them what to do. Anyway, a handful of people know that 1. who and what I actually am and 2. that I'm still alive. That handful's fine with me.

You have no intention of guiding your younger siblings? Healing the rifts your elder brothers made between Heaven and Earth?

Would you want thousands of angels pestering you for attention and to tell them what to do? Most people don't even know that the Apocalypse started, much less was stopped. The humans are fine.

I don't think of it as pestering. They're my family.

Don't get me wrong, I love them and I miss being around them, but running Heaven is not my idea of a good time and I risk becoming more like my Michael if I do. Not good.

Aren't you tired of not having anything useful to contribute?

I'm helpful in my own way. Just not the ways other angels would prefer.

Considering what happened *last* time I decided to be helpful in ways that someone not me would approve of, I think I can be forgiven for doing things my way instead.

So. What do *you* think I should be doing that isn't putting jackasses in their place?

Your version of heaven is in a shambles; your brothers are gone, dead, or banished, the lesser angels seeking guidance.
You say that you are fleeing for your life, but you create that insecurity for yourself. You have no conviction, no faith in yourself or your decisions--if you only began there, then perhaps you might save more than your brethren, you may save yourself.

I've changed in the time I've been gone. I don't want to go home and have those who still remember me expect me to be just as I was and fill my old role--minus the running messages crap since it's not like Dad's talking to anyone--along with taking on Michael's job.

So create it in your image. Father made you his survivor, you care about humanity. Show Heaven the depths of your understanding, Gabriel. Teach them.

Given that I'm the prankster of the four of us, I don't think many of the others would appreciate it. Most of the teaching I've been doing for the last while was of the 'don't be a dick' type.

Not always. Just look at human history for examples.

Things are basically boiling down to you saying 'I want you to do the thing' while I'm saying 'I don't wanna'. And around and around we go.
