She'd dozed off next to the hearth, having spent the earlier part of the evening working on a few last-minute presents to leave for the people who had given her so much. Gabriel was away, and it was always hard to go to their bedroom when she knew he wouldn't be around. Not that he exhausted her every night, or woke her up for a little fun in the morning. It just felt too big to be there alone. Sometimes she'd put together a pallet in the main room, sleeping like a servant rather than the position she'd been thrust into by dint of her connection to their god.
She knew it was almost time for her to leave, to go off on her next great adventure. It sucked to be leaving after so much time, but Claudia didn't belong here, really. Living and dying in the past would only muck things up, and she had to find the asshole who trapped her here and ruin his life. Maybe send him to live out his life in Pompeii or some other place about to be wiped out.
