Having grown up in the slave quarters, 'normal' was a strange thing for food - all different cultures, different practices with food, abject poverty and often starvation rations - these things meant making do, and Anakin had eaten a wildly diverse diet even if it was sometimes just a mouthful given when Watto wasn't feeding them. As such, he'd eat just about anything.
