Claudia didn't know exactly how it had happened, but the guy she'd been trying to snag an artifact from had caught her instead. She remembered being dragged through some kind of portal, and a conversation with some very strangely-dressed individuals that would have scared even some of the toughs she'd known in her time on the streets. It had been hours before she really understood what had happened, to get even a slight grip on the foreign words and sights around her. Somehow, she'd been sent back in time, when exactly she wasn't certain, and given over to these scoundrels to do with as they pleased. It wasn't until she saw the city that she even knew where she was. Nobody could mistake Rome, even this ancient shining city.

Her wrists tied together and into a string with the other unfortunates, the only real indignities she'd been spared were being stripped of her possessions and raped. From the little she could catch, they thought she would being them quite a small fortune as a wonder. Maybe even one of the senators would find her worth having, and it wouldn't do to damage the goods unnecessarily. Still, she had quite a few bruises and a blackening eye from the casual 'encouragements' she'd received. A halting attempt at what she knew of Latin and Greek had only resulted in snickering laughter and an incomprehensible reprimand with a threatening knife at her mouth. Apparently their definition of 'damaged goods' didn't include the ability to speak.

Now, she was turned over to the slave auction, and there, nothing could have prepared her for the indignities. Her clothes, much the worse for wear after all the travel were unceremoniously stripped off her in front of the noisy crowd as one man gave a long-winded description of her, enthusiasm clear even through the language barrier. She struggled against the touches of interested parties, only her bonds keeping her from being able to strike back.

She'd yanked away from yet another impertinent squeeze when she finally saw a familiar face. It made her gasp, her thoughts latching onto the name that went with it in what might have been a prayer of salvation, but she had to get his attention. And if he was the one from this time, she couldn't just call him by name. Not his real name. Still, she knew one of those he'd used in the millenia he'd been hanging around pretending not to be an archangel.

"Loki! Help me!" The words were in modern english, and that was probably a mistake, but she was too distracted to try for something more appropriate to the era just now. She had to get his attention, maybe get the eager shoppers to give her some space. She had to get out of here.

His hips snap forwards faster and harder, approaching the limits of what was a good idea for her, now holding back his release for the moment.

She can't help making soft sounds as he pounds into her, just the right side of too much, and it drives her right over the edge. Claudia claws down his back as she comes, hard enough that any mortal man might be bleeding, trying to hold on as her body writhes with need.

Claudia tightening around him is his cue to let go and his hips only snap forwards once more before he's filling her, a shudder running through him. Once he's done, his body relaxes on top of her. "So, ready for another round?"

Claudia almost laughs at his reaction, because, honestly, she did need a little time to catch her breath. "That bad a dry spell?"

"I spent a month in Rome not getting laid and then another chunk of time running around and also not getting laid," he points out drily.

"I could point out I've spent that same amount of time not getting laid," she said, shaking her head slightly. "You only had to spend mornings and evenings with me, since I was working most of the day, and you don't sleep. You could have popped off to India for all I knew."

It wasn't like she'd expected him to play monk.

"I would like a little time to recover. You were a tad...vigorous."

Gabriel's forehead wrinkles a little at the word 'India'. "Country name that doesn't exist yet there."

"Kali," she suggested, since she couldn't remember exactly what the right name would be.

"...Ah. The area she's in is called Hindustan these days." Gabriel quirks an eyebrow at her. "You saying I'll eventually get her in bed with me?"

"So I've heard. Not that she doesn't still end up hating your guts..."

"Naturally," he sighs.

"You do keep a lot of secrets, Gabriel," Claudia pointed out. But she also took a moment to thread her fingers through his hair. "You are what you are, and she is what she is. It doesn't always make for even footing."

"And I'm sure I don't need to tell you why I keep them," he grumbles, tilting his head forwards slightly for her.

"No, you don't," she said, smiling a little as she gently ran nails along his scalp. "In this, we both have a lot of secrets to keep, don't we?"

"Yup," he says, shivering slightly before rolling his hips forwards. All right, that's enough talking.

Claudia sucks in a breath at that, not quite having noticed just how hard he'd become again where he was still seated inside her. It was enough to make her tighten just a little in anticipation, drawing him down into a deep kiss.

Gabriel makes a sound into the kiss, rolling his hips forwards slowly for the moment. Giving her a little time to get used to this again.

Claudia shuddered under him, delicious sparks already starting to fill her with sensation as he took his time. It felt so good, and she moaned wantonly.

Even without experience, Gabriel was totally capable of turning her into a quivering mass of nerves, and she loved every moment of it. The slow pace gave her plenty of time to adjust her position under him so that it was just right, not rubbing against anything too sensitive from their fierce coupling only moments before.

Gabriel soon begins to increase his pace although not yet his force. That can wait a little. He can take his time now that he's come once already.

Part of her almost wants him to stay slow, the easy pace a different kind of pleasure than pounding force. And yet she knows Gabriel won't hurt her, trusts that. He could have just left her, or treated her in the same way as most of the buyers interested in her that day would have, but instead, he'd been so good to her, and she wanted to repay that.

"So good," she breathed, eyes dark with pleasure, but not the glazed stupor she knew he could cause. "Like that, please..."

"All right," he says, lowering his head to press a kiss on her as his hips keep rolling forwards, his pace plateauing for now. May as well go with slower than usual for now.

Claudia nipped gently at his lower lip, the pace perfect for a little bit, since she wasn't entirely sure she'd be able to keep from hitting her climax too soon if he pushed too much. It was hard for a mortal to keep up, but she did try as much as she was able.

"Perfect," she purred.

"I try," he says with a lop-sided grin, a lock of hair escaping to be in his face. It doesn't seem to matter what century he's in or what his hair length is, that one lock likes to make its presence known.

She reached up, combing his hair back with her fingers, smiling at the familiarity of it all. Whatever time they were in, she was definitely keeping him. "Do or do not," she quoted, even if it was in a different language than the original. "There is no try."
