It's been months since that terrible night when Dean learned just how vengeful, possessive, and jealous Archangels could be. Since then he's suffered through several visits, if one could call them that, with Lucifer. He hasn't seen Gabriel once since that first night even though he's prayed and tried to summon him many times. He'd confronted Lucifer about it thinking perhaps the jealous Devil had done permanent damage to his friend. Lucifer stated that aside from choosing to avoid Dean he was just fine. That hurt to think about; that Gabriel would abandon him like that. That he would leave him to the mercy of his ruthless older brother. Still, he didn't give up. After the last meeting with Lucifer Dean had been left tied up and gagged. He'd prayed for over an hour to both Gabriel and Castiel but neither came to help him. Sam wasn't due back for a day at least so Dean had been forced to partially dislocate his shoulder in order to get himself free. It had taken over two hours but he'd finally managed to free himself from Lucifer's bonds. It's been three weeks since that night and once again Sam had decided to go out for the night. Dean hesitated in wishing him a good night, afraid he was going to have a run in with Lucifer again. In the end he'd bid his brother a good evening and locked himself in his bedroom with multiple angel banishment runes spread out around the room. If Lucifer came back, he'd be ready.

"yeah. Uh what we normally do isn't something I'm up for. I don't think I could let you restrain me and not have a panic attack."

"Understandable. Although I need something to do that isn't twiddling my thumbs since the last thing you want is a bored archangel," Gabriel points out.

"We could watch a movie or something...." Dean shrugs. "Maybe go out to a bar?" Dean suggests.

"A movie works." He's not sure he wants Dean bar-hopping right now. "Any come to mind, or are you waiting until you're at the tv to figure that out."

"I think Sam picked up the new Star Wars movie before he left..we could watch that." Dean offers.

"We can definitely do that. Planning on getting together popcorn or whatever or are we having me snap it into existence?" Not that he minds doing it.

"I can make the popcorn. It's kind of fun actually. Sam and I figured out how to do it on the stove with real kernels and stuff."

"Look at you turning into a real grown-up," he teases, sliding easily into how they were before Lucifer fucked everything up.

"Careful, we don't want other people to find out." Dean chuckles. "I've got a reputation to uphold." He stands up and heads towards the kitchen.

"Afraid that people might expect you to start being responsible?" Gabriel snarks as he hops down from his seat to follow Dean.

"Yeah, something like that." Dean laughs heading into the kitchen and straight to the pantry. He pulled out a jar of popcorn kernels and a bottle of coconut oil. "As weird as he is, Sam actually had a good idea with this one. It's better than normal oil. Would you grab the dutch oven out of the cabinet over there?"

"What would you do if I didn't?" he asks playfully as he goes looking for the relevant cabinet.

"I wouldn't share my popcorn." Dean shrugs and then winks over at the archangel. It's nice...not being scared around such a powerful being. He trusts Gabriel to uphold his request for no sex or funny business.

"You know that since I can just snap up my own that's a completely useless threat, right?" Gabriel points out, setting the oven down near an outlet.

Dean grabs the dutch oven and moves it over to the stove and pours enough oil into the bottom of it before turning the eye on medium high. He dropped three kernels into the oil and stood by to wait for them to pop. In the meantime he measured out the exact amount needed and put the remainder of the jar and oil away.

"Yeah, you can. But mine is better."

"You haven't even tried mine!" Gabriel counters as he hops up to sit on one.

"Well how about this, you conjure yours, I'll pop mine and we'll eat both. Decide then which is better." He muses. Seconds later the three kernels in the pot pop open and Dean pours the rest in, covers it with the lid and picks it up to shake it vigorously, his thumbs holding the lid in place.

"Would you mind grabbing a bowl?"

"Oh sure, tell me to do something when I just sat down," Gabriel complains as he searches the cabinets around him.

Dean laughs and when the pops stop and he sets the pot down on the counter and opens the lid. He pours some salt and replaces the lid only to shake once more. "Alright...all done."

Gabriel finds the bowl and plops it on the counter by him. "Your bowl."

"Thanks." Dean pours the popcorn into the bowl and adds a bit more salt. "Wanna grab us some cokes?"

"No beer?" Gabriel teases, slipping off the counter. "Or remembering I can just snap them into being as well?"

Given that soda is a source of sugar, damn right he knows how to get it exactly right.

"Not really feeling a beer right now." Dean admits with a shrug as he heads for the TV room. He sits the popcorn bowl down and sets about getting the movie set up before claiming his seat on the couch.
