It's not the span of five minutes I'm worried about, as it's an insult to the both of us to assume what would be causing the power blackouts would only last that long.
What, don't wanna play 'search the planet'? Everglades. I think the place used to be somebody's vacation spot but it didn't look like anyone'd been here for years. A few repairs and it's livable again.
At least Lucifer's failure gives Gabriel time to snap away the bowl his ice cream had been in and get his tv turned off. Not that there was anything particularly interesting on. Just the news.
Gabriel opens the door in short order, eyebrow raised. "You missed the house slightly."
"I wouldn't have found it at all if I hadn't been invited."
He turned on his heel slightly, looking up at the dull sky, then down, the low trees cutting through the swamp, the smell of crocodiles and fish and brackish water.
Gabriel steps back to let his brother in. "I've made an attempt at Lucifer-proofing the bed. Mostly in the form of making a different kind that doesn't have legs for you to break."
He laughed, letting himself on into the room beyond, scoping the place out thoughtfully. It wasn't so bad. Could afford to be spruced just a little bit more, but it was charming in its own way. Strangely it was very Gabriel.
He cocked his head to one side. "Hmm. There's something missing. Where's my hug, little brother?"
"You're so demanding," he teased, and opened his arms, letting Gabriel slide into them. It had taken a lot of convincing to get the hug out of him the last time, so it was refreshing to be given it so easily.
Not that he didn't take full advantage, raising one hand away from Gabriel's side to catch his jaw and pulling him up into a kiss.
"Mmm. So your sweet tooth is sated, is it? Or do you still have an appetite left to satisfy?"
Lucifer follows, like he's tethered to Gabriel by an invisible rope, and if the door closes behind him then that was intentional too. A breath of wind.
No point giving a curious alligator or anything else a chance to get inside and need to be chased back out. Gabriel already did that with birds that were getting in and out through a broken window.
"Yeah, I've had enough ice cream for now. Why, you want some?" He doesn't seriously expect the answer to be 'yes'. He's noticed Lucifer following him and steps back another step or two to see if the trend continues.
"I have...a craving," he said, tipping his head down slightly, not quite meeting his brother's eyes. "For something."
And he continued another step, closing the distance little by little. "I couldn't say exactly what for, but I'm sure you have some kind of idea. You're better at these kinds of things than I am, after all, hm Gabriel?"
"What, admitting little brother may be more experienced than you?" Gabriel teases, still backing up. At least until he hits the couch, at which point he sits on it.
Of course, there's good reason for Lucifer not getting the chance to gain that experience first. Doesn't stop Gabriel from a bout of good-natured picking on his big brother.
Lucifer's eyes flashed--either danger or playfulness. But in any case, he was all challenging grace and licking his lips, and he climbed up onto his brother's lap, wings rustling.
"You think you have more experience than me?" he teased, lightly. "Not all of us can star in pornography, though, I suppose."
For Gabriel's own peace of mind, he's going with the second option. He settles his hands easily on his brother's waist and opens his mouth to respond to Lucifer's question before the next sentence takes more priority. "You know about the video I left for them?"
"I know things, Gabriel. And even if I hadn't seen the film, you forget, I'd been locked in the cage for a very long time. I know all the ways in and all the ways out, and if you hadn't told them, I'd have done it myself."
Lucifer plucked at the collar of Gabriel's shirt thoughtfully. "Though I have to tell you, my favorite part was when you stopped talking."
"The part that I knew would be more than the boys ever wanted to see, you mean?" Gabriel tilts his head back a bit as he talks, showing the mark Lucifer left on his throat that had been mostly hidden by said collar of his shirt. The bruising had mostly faded, although Lucifer's name is still there and doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.
Anyway, moving back to a slightly earlier subject than the one he actually addressed. "Why would you have told them? For additional challenge or something else?" Always fun to hear that his emergency plan B for if things went south was something his brother would have had shared as well.
For angelfire.

So this is Lucifer knocking at the door like a pedestrian.

All right, all right, he'll give his brother his hug before Lucifer can decide if he wants to swat him.
