If Garth'zel wasn't blind from hibernation sickness, he'd give the set of soldiers who were his dubious rescuers from carbonite a very unamused look. As it is, he does a fairly good impression of doing so. "Clearly, no one warned you of the dangers of angering a Sith."

He may be weakened from his stay in carbonite, but not that much. A hand stretches out, Force lightning shooting forth to show them the error of their ways. Assuming they survive it.

Kylo had been in the process of dealing with some things on the main desk of his ship. They had found the carbonite and brought it with them out of curiosity. He freed the man, but had waited to see how he would fair.

Then, of course, he heard screaming coming from the security feeds, felt a surge of Force power and he'd gone rushing to the lower levels of the ship to find out what was going on. He slid to a stop when he saw the Force lightning, tilting his head. "Stop!" He shouted, eyes narrowing.

Garth'zel's head snaps around to face the newcomer, despite the fact he can't see. He lowers his hand, letting the lightning stop before turning to face Ren properly, folding his arms across his chest. "Maybe you should teach your troops better. Just why should I obey you?"

Ren should probably count himself lucky that Garth'zel did stop. Assuming he's smart enough.

He considered the other for a moment, but he could tell the other couldn't see him. A side effect of being in the carbonite for probably a very long time.

"My name is Kylo Ren. I am one of the Knights of Ren. Grandson of Darth Vader." He tilted his head, moving slightly, making sure they other wouldn't be able to get an easy target of him.

"And who are you?"

"Darth Imperious, a Lord of the Dark Council," Garth'zel says evenly. "I've never heard of this 'Darth Vader'."

So in other words, Ren's status as his grandson means nothing to him.

Garth'zel reaches out in the Force to help him keep track of where Ren is. It wouldn't do to get jumped unexpectedly.

"Darth..." He hesitated, his eyes widening. He'd found tons of information about former Sith Lords. Snoke had helped him with much of it and he certainly knew the name, but it was long past his time.

"You've been in carbonite all this time...amazing." He said, though he could feel the other reaching out. "I mean you no harm Darth Imperious. The Council has long been disbanded. The Sith fallen...for the most part. But the Jedi fell too. The only one left is my uncle, Luke Skywalker."

He sighed, unsure of how he should explain how things were. "It has been a very long time since you...were free."

The news sends a ripple of shock through Garth'zel, even if the only outward sign was a blink. "What happened?"

He's not sure which bothers him more; the Sith essentially being gone, or the Jedi. Both were disturbing in their ways.

"I don't know all the details. I can only tell you the things I know for sure in my own...timeline I guess you can say. The Jedi were prospering, but my grandfather helped destroy them. He helped bring them down. He and his master Darth Sideous...ruled. But the Resistance destroyed them. Along with his own son. My uncle, Luke." He bit his lip, unsure of how to continue.

"My Master, Lord Snoke found me. Showed me the error of staying on the Light Side. I helped destroy the new Jedi Academy."

"You what?!" Garth'zel has no words. Which means Ren is probably belatedly remembering that Imperious was actually willing to work with the Jedi when things were serious enough along with mostly being willing enough to make the attempt to get along. Albeit mostly in the form of 'you leave me alone and I'll leave you alone'.

Kylo looked confused at the reaction, taking a careful step back. He did remember reading some about the Sith lord, but so much information had been scrambled, lost.

"I don't...understand. Why are you mad? The Sith spent...ages trying to rid themselves of the Jedi!"

"Considering that we kept it hidden, I'll forgive you for not being aware I'm--was--married to a Jedi," Garth'zel says acidly, ruthlessly suppressing the pang of loss he felt. He can mourn what he's lost later.

"I suppose it hasn't occurred to you that the galaxy needs both Dark and Light?" Garth'zel may be a Sith, but it's not like he was given a choice about it. Not if he wished to continue living.

He still looked just so confused by all this, shaking his head. "You were...married to a Jedi?" It was interesting to think about. How would such a relationship even work?

The next question made him blink, staring before crossing his arms over his chest. "I...I don't..." Well, he really didn't know how to answer that. Snoke had only ever pushed that the Dark side needed to win.

Through both parties being rational people instead of one of them being a psychopath like too many Sith are.

"Yes. I was. Consider yourself lucky I'm not tearing anything or anyone apart over her being dead for who knows how long." Just so Kylo understands there's an element of risk right now.

"Somehow, I'm not surprised you never bothered to think about it. I suppose your Master hasn't either?" He wished he could understand this obsession so many Sith or their hanger ons had with the Dark destroying the Light.

"My Master...he..." He hesitated, brows furrowing. "He said there could never be a balance..." He murmured quietly, his voice tapering off as he thought about things. When Snoke had started whispering to him, had started influencing his mind, Ben had just been a boy. Likely no more than 10 or 11.

"He has...taught me since I was a child! He wouldn't..." Lie. Or would he have?

Garth'zel just keeps his arms folded across his chest and raises his eyebrows, waiting for Kylo to finish working his way through that line of thought. Although he'll add one bit.

"I'd like to point out my own Master--first Lord, then Darth--Zash had been manipulating me since before I was officially her apprentice. What she really wanted was a younger, healthier body to take over. So Masters doing or saying whatever they need to in order to get the results they want isn't exactly unheard of."

"If...if you knew, why didn't you turn your back on your teachings later?" He asked, tilting his head before taking a step closer. Mentally, he knew Snoke was strong, but physically was another matter all together.

And Many things Snoke had told him over the years...well he'd questioned to himself but never aloud.

Garth'zel's expression turns sardonic. "You mean besides the part where if I did, it would have made survival in the Sith Empire just a little bit difficult? Or rather, more difficult than it already was."

It's not like he didn't take the time to examine the things she taught him later to make sure there weren't traps he didn't see later.

He contemplated that, sighing softly. "I'm sorry. I don't know...much. About that time. A lot of...history has been destroyed over the years. In one way or another. I know the teachings my uncle gave me and the things my Master has taught me as well. Snoke...told me as much as he could."

Though, the more he thought about it the more he wondered if that was really true. "Or, he told me as much as he wanted me to know."

"That last is certainly true enough for Masters, be they Sith or Jedi. Sith to maintain power, for the most part; while with Jedi, usually because they think their padawans aren't ready. Sometimes they're right, sometimes they're not. But at least they usually don't deliberately do things that get their students killed." Unlike the Sith, who often enough just shrug and decide the dead apprentice obviously wasn't strong enough and go looking for a new one.

And of course, that had Kylo thinking of all the things he had done for Snoke that could have easily gotten him killed. And he was sure the other wouldn't have cared all that much either. Other than to be angry at having to find a new apprentice.

"Well, there is no one else who could teach me."

Garth'zel may not be able to see, but he makes a good attempt of giving Ren a level look. He'll let him work out the error he made just now, considering Garth'zel was hardly no one. Rather, he was one of the most powerful Sith of his time, both in terms of Force ability and political power.

While the latter is obviously gone, his strength in the Force is still intact.

Of course, Kylo saw the look and he stared back for a moment before blinking.

"Oh."

But just because the other was there certainly didn't mean he was interested in taking on an apprentice. "You've only just woken up in an entirely new era. Why would you want to train anyone?"

"I didn't say I wanted to do it now. I need time to get my damn sight back and catch up on what I've missed before I even think about that. But at least you know you have options now." Even if Kylo should probably keep very quiet about having said option to Snoke, lest he decides to rid himself of his new rival.

"I didn't say now either. I was just asking." He said, frowning before he stepped closer. "I can give you chambers, here on my ship. To give you time to recover. There are things that can help. Medicine."

"A healing trance can also get the job done." No offense, but he's going to be as independent as he can. For all he knows, Ren may change his mind about how hospitable he feels like being, given time away from him.

"Then at least take quarters. There isn't really anywhere we can just drop you off at the moment." He said, tilting his head a bit as he watched the other.

"And you can lock yourself in if you so choose. So no one can come in and harm you. Or attempt to."
